'Joyous Elevations' Bay Area Elevation Map Tee

- Backstory -

I've always loved the famous Joy Division album cover. It reminded me of mountain ridges layering into the distance. Seeing it large at the SF MOMA Art of Noise exhibit made a strong impression on me.

I looked into it and found out it came from a Scientific American article about Pulsars. It's a cool story worth checking out.

I had the idea of plotting Bay Area elevations for a while before I did it. I've spent a lot of time exploring the Bay Area hills and peaks by bike and on foot. I love how they layer into the distance, just like the album cover. So I took Bay Area elevation data and plotted it in that style.

The bottom text "Joyous Elevations" felt perfect. It captures my love for hiking and biking these hills and exploring the various peaks, valleys, crevices, and micro climates. And I liked having "joy" in the name as a nod to the original album.

- About the Shirts -

I am relatively new to screen printing, but I have many ideas for it. I printed these shirts on Next Level 6210 blanks. They are black shirts with white ink. These blanks are popular and have a soft cotton-poly (60 40) blend with a basic crew neck fit. I carry the sizes Small through Extra Large.

I do the screen printing myself at Compound Gallery in Emeryville. If more people want shirts, I might need help from a print shop for a bit.

The large size is shown on me; I am 6'2" and 205 lbs.

- How to Get One -

I live near Rockridge BART. I can meet you near there, or I can ship a shirt to you.
